In an update, it emerges my mother has been taken to hospital for what is expected to be several days. There aren’t many details but my sis says it’s not serious. As of tonight I’ll be heading back to my hometown to help out while she’s on the mend; I was intending to visit her anyway.

I’ve learned that Internet access will be patchy while I’m up North.
