This is the very first time I used AI as a web developer agent. And by Agent, I mean a freelancer replacement.
WordPress to Replit (Agentic AI)
I mean this literally. The AI did the work of a freelancer in real time via a chat window similar to ChatGPT.
- Not sharing files and folders via email.
- Not waiting a day or two for turnaround.
- Any miscommunication was resolved instantly.
- No scheduled calls. No Zooms.
This is a defining moment.
If you know how to talk to technical offshore developers or local expensive designers for building and customizing websites on Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, etc., you can talk to Agentic AI and have whatever it is that you can imagine built for you.
If your sole job is any of these things, I would strongly advise learning these new tools and not fearing them. If you decide not to learn them, then you should fear them.
These tools are highly technical despite being promoted as something anyone can use. They need a lead.
My role is exactly this: The technical and creative lead for the agents on your behalf.

Project Overview: Migrated and fully reimagined an existing WordPress website into a fast, modern React application with complete content management capabilities using a ChatGPT-like interface and an AI agent that reacted like an experienced employee or freelancer.
Technical Architecture Delivered:
- Frontend: React 18 with TypeScript, Wouter routing, TanStack Query state management
- Backend: Node.js/Express with PostgreSQL database using Drizzle ORM
- Styling: Tailwind CSS with custom brand design system
