Well here we are in 2018. Computing power is absolutely mind-blowing! My current computers are what I DREAMED of when I began my career on my Pentium 166 with 16mb RAM on Windows 95! I currently have 3 BOXX Workstations. They are amazing professional machines built on Windows for creative professionals. As of today they can be configured with 512GB of RAM.
My primary personal PC is a GoBOXX MXL 17″ Laptop packed with Desktop power. I want to note this thing is 2+ years old now and still holds its own. I will be upgrading RAM to 64GB and Video very soon. I can work in After Effects, Premiere and all of my text based/code apps simultaneously with little compromise. I see the need for next level power once I head into VR or 4K video full-steam.

I recently majorly upgraded my old BOXX desktop for my son and in the process started to really enjoy building PC’s as a hobby. I want to note this workstation is almost 10 years old and was so good at the time I was able to get it up to speed for modern gaming, coding and graphics. I was unsuccessful at finding a match to upgrade to USB 3.0 ports. When he expires this thing once and for all we will get him on an OriginPC but for right now this thing is beyond anything any 8 year old could need!

Haha! No my primary is still an iMac and a Macbook Pro. The PC is my VR/AR rig. You need shit tons of graphics and processing power to get a realistic VR experience. I have my whole basement dedicated to a high end room-scale VR experience. It’s the balls and is more a hobby at this point. I’m trying to stay ahead of the curve in VR, and Augmented Reality design. I’ve tried them all and by far, the Vive experience blows all of them out of the water. Since UX Design is shifting toward voice, wearables, AR and VR, I’m just trying to keep my pay grade high 😉

[/quote]Wow sounds cool. I agree on the UX shift but I dedicated my basement to R haha (reality) I have a sneaky feeling if I had a room dedicated to VR I’d never leave it. Games, porn and entertainment advancements are bonkers. When those 3 things combine and include other senses like touch and smell it will be really really insane.
Also I think you sort of wrote PC’s are more advanced now but I won’t push it hahah!!

Jesus! That 2x Quadro is a monster! Maybe that will be my next upgrade. But I’ll still stick with the iMac Pro maxed out at $15 Gs when I can afford it. 😉 My whole home environment is in the Apple world so I just like the experience of everything just playing nice with no fiddling. The PC is basically my middle age crisis. I’m not into sports cars, motorcycles or boats so I have to blow money on something!

Then after making a machine with 512GB of RAM I saw that Windows 10 can now go up to 2TB see here. Then it really hit me how any time I’ve ever seen “2” whether it was 2mb, gb or tb it ALWAYS goes up. It’s really a wild vision of what that power will be like!

My current WIP POS rig, since my corsair PSU decided to take out every part in my old computer when it went out, so much for their protection. Second time it happened to me with that same model PSU. I lost 5 ssd, 6 hd, 2 motherboards, 1 cpu, 4 ram, 1 gpu, a blu ray burner, & a dvd burner
