Project 3:10: Building an AI-First Website Within a Website

How I'm using AI to amplify 25+ years of website design and development experience.
Project 3:10 started as a personal running challenge. My goal is to run a 3:10 marathon at the 2027 New York City Marathon at age 52, along with a sub-1:30 NYC Half Marathon and a sub-20-minute 5K. I'm documenting the entire process, including training, strength, nutrition, recovery, equipment, performance data, and everything I learn along the way.
But there's another side to this project, and that's where Michael Baker Digital comes in.
I'm using Project 3:10 as a real-world demonstration of what can be accomplished in an AI-first website development environment. After more than 25 years working in digital design and development, I'm now using AI to amplify my experience, accelerate development, and build things that would traditionally require significantly more time, resources, and complexity.
An Entire Website Within a Website
Project 3:10 lives within my existing Get Up Earlier Coaching website, but it's being developed as its own fully branded digital experience.
It includes custom navigation, a dedicated visual identity, multiple content types, training journals, performance dashboards, race countdowns, interactive training blueprints, and integrations with platforms like Strava.
The training journals aren't simply blog posts. They're structured content that can connect to actual running data, performance metrics, training categories, and related educational resources.
My existing 13-chapter How to Run a Marathon guide also becomes part of this interconnected experience, linking established coaching principles to the actual training and experiments I'm documenting.
The result is something far more sophisticated than a collection of static website pages.
AI Amplifies Experience
One of the biggest misconceptions about AI website development is that the technology replaces the need for experience.
My approach is the opposite.
I'm still responsible for the architecture, branding, user experience, content strategy, integrations, and overall direction of the project. AI dramatically accelerates how those ideas become working functionality.
Instead of spending countless hours manually developing every component, I can focus more attention on what the website needs to accomplish, how the information connects, and how the experience can continue to evolve.
It's not about having AI generate a website. It's about using AI to build a better digital platform.
Building in Public
I'll be documenting the technical side of Project 3:10 here on Michael Baker Digital through videos, development walkthroughs, feature demonstrations, and ongoing updates.
I'll show how the website is structured, how new features are developed, how integrations work, and how AI helps me continually expand the platform.
And because Project 3:10 is my own running project, the content is authentic. Every training entry, race result, photograph, and performance experiment comes from my actual experience.
That authenticity is important. AI isn't inventing the story. It's helping me organize, connect, present, and scale it.
What This Means for Business Owners
The same approach can be applied to businesses of virtually any size.
A website no longer needs to be limited by the templates, plugins, and restrictions of traditional website platforms. It can become a highly customized system built around the actual needs of the business, with specialized functionality, integrations, content management, and room to grow.
Project 3:10 is my opportunity to demonstrate that approach from beginning to end, using a project I personally own, operate, and continuously develop.
Two projects, one experience.
On Get Up Earlier, I'm documenting the pursuit of a 3:10 marathon.
On Michael Baker Digital, I'm documenting how I'm architecting and building the digital platform that makes it all possible.
